The Urban Beat on Metro FM gives local producers a platform to showcase their talent

Wasup housecats  The Urban Beat on Metro FMwhich is broadcasted during Friday and Saturday from 10pm-1am every week hosted by DJ ChristosVinny Da Vinci and lady Zeal now has 6815 followers because of the local deep house tracks that blaze dance floors at the night clubs. The Urban Beat simply plays deep house music from various local and international deep house producers. Local house music has blown Mzansi’s nightclubs with storm. The Urban Beat gives local producers a platform to showcase their talent and play their produced tracks through guest mix (Diroba mix).

It’s exiting to see that our local producer’s music is being played on our local radio stations and this helps them by giving them a platform of recognition about who they are and what kind of deep house they produce. South African now has many registered producers and dj who are working hard behind the scene by making people dance at nightclubs. Producers like; Chymamusique, Zulu Mafia, Da Capo, Dj WhiskyCharlie Mind Games and Ta-ice have produced massive hits that are still hitting the dance floors in nightclubs. Most local radio stations now play local deep house music which is great!

Thulane Da Producer one of the top 10 local dj in South Africa who graduated at the Soul Candi Institute of Music who was a guest dj at The Urban Beat on metro FM advised upcoming local producers to up their game and they can also visit the Soul Candi Institute of Music: www.scim.co.za/apply-online/corlett/‎ for scholarships and completions. Not everyone will be dj or a producer of deep house music, deep house music is a spiritual thing! You have to live and love music! Deeper we go, no sleep no sweat>>>>d-__-p<<<<<<<

    1. True! I think now it is time deep house music gets recognised and exposed just like any other genres like Hip Hop and R&B music. All I can say is that big up to metro FM by giving our local producers free exposure and publicity :-) hence we are living in a millennium society where things have changed. People want to hear new musical style from new producers.

  2. I agree with you, local producers will be able to showcase their talent, it is not everyone who gets an opportunity to showcase their talent on a famous radio station such as METRO FM

    1. Era I agree with you man, Metro FM is the new uplifting and opportunity stunt for local producers which is what we need. We have too much talent but how are we going to witness it if our local producers don’t get publicity and given a chance.

    1. @ Johannes I feel you. Deep house music has always been perceived as an underground music. We have to talk about house music. There are many housecats out there who want regular updates about new house music, DJ sound equipment’s and producers who are blazing flames on the dance floors in nightclubs and events.

    1. @ Peace deep house music producers do market themselves by uploading their music on social networks such as Facebook, twitter and also music website such as soundcloud, traxsource and beatport. Local producers also do submit their mixes and music on radio stations.

  7. I am not a huge fan of house music but i really respect Metro FM for giving our local DJs this opportunity, and from the way i see things our local music is growing quite well, in other words our music is maturing, we no longer persieve house music as the loudest music that it was. great stuff.

  10. I think that it is a wonderful idea that people like Christo took the initiative to scout for talent and offer exposure to local DJs. I enjoy deep house a lot and think that I will be enjoying it even much more that you have mentioned the station that I need to tune in to in order to hear what kind of house is currently being played. I know that you too are a DJ; have ever thought of being a guest on the show?

  12. the topic in discussion of this blog reminds me of back in the days of shows like Oskidos church grooves and dj sbu's ylens, back when house was still a jump and we grooved thoruoghly now for some reason the house scene has been diluted and very minimal due the frenzy with hiphop and all that sort of rubbish which i dont consider to be music

  13. The reason why house music has been diluted and very minimal it’s because it has been perceived as an underground thing. But yeah I have to say back in the day’s house music something else but you have to bare in mind that things have changed and our local producers are trying to bring something new.

  15. i like the fact that being fan of house means i am suppoting local music and artists. sometimes feel we too taken by western music, that we forget our own people

    1. Here is the thing! We are too exposed to western music through social media whereby we even forget to show some love on our local musicians or producers. I think it is highly advisable for our local musicians and producers so adapt to social media to promote their brand, music and record labels.
